Privacy policy
What we collect about you, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to see, change or delete it.
Who we are
Watts Digital Consulting Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company 14574775), #3042 275 New North Road, London N1 7AA, United Kingdom, runs Event Job Site and is the controller of your personal data under UK GDPR and, for people in the EU, EU GDPR. Contact us about your data at [email protected].
EU representative: we are appointing a representative in the EU under Article 27 of EU GDPR. Their details will be shown here. Until then, people in the EU can contact us directly at [email protected].
For an employer's shift and timesheet records we act for the employer, who is the controller of those records (see our data processing terms).
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, and your password (stored only as a secure hash) if you set one.
- Your worker profile: headline, about you, experience, where you are, the roles you do, availability, your photo if you add one, whether employers can find you, and your yes or no answer about right to work. We never collect right-to-work documents.
- Your qualifications and certificates: each qualification you list (its name, who issued it and when it expires), and a copy of its certificate if you attach one (a PDF or a picture, up to 5 MB). Pictures are resized and their camera and location details removed. We don't check certificates; employers check them.
- Applications and messages: the jobs you apply for, your notes, where your application is up to, and messages with employers.
- Shifts and hours: shifts you are booked on, clock-in and clock-out times, how you clocked in (for example the QR code at the venue), breaks and approvals.
- Employers: company details, the team members on the account, jobs posted and the people hired.
- Payments: Stripe takes payment for Premium and extras. We keep what you bought, when and the amount, but never your full card details.
- Job alerts: the role and place you asked to hear about.
- Feedback and errors: what you send with Feedback (including a screenshot of the page if you leave that ticked), and technical details when something goes wrong.
- Use of the site: a cookie that keeps you signed in, and Google Analytics data about the pages people visit (see the Cookie policy).
Why we use it
- To run your account and the service you asked for (contract): showing jobs, sending your applications, shift and hours tools, job alerts, sign-in emails.
- To keep the site safe and working (legitimate interests): security logs, fraud and spam checks, fixing errors, checking new employers.
- To improve the site (legitimate interests): Google Analytics shows us which pages help people find work. You can turn it off at any time.
- Because the law requires it (legal obligation): for example keeping payment records for tax.
- Letting employers find you (your choice): only if you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time.
We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Services we use
- Hosting, database and file storage: Railway, in its EU West region (Amsterdam, the Netherlands).
- Email delivery: Emailit, to send sign-in links, alerts and notifications.
- Payments: Stripe.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4 (Google), with advertising features and Google signals turned off.
Data outside the UK and EU
Some of these services are run from, or store data in, the United States. When data leaves the UK or EU, it is protected by an adequacy decision (such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified) or by standard contractual clauses (the EU clauses with the UK addendum). You can ask us for details.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: while your account is open. When you delete your account (Account, then Delete my account), your profile, qualifications, certificate files, photo, applications, messages and job alerts are deleted straight away from the live site. Backups of the database are overwritten on a rolling cycle, within 30 days.
- Certificate files and your photo: kept until you delete them, delete the qualification, or delete your account. Each of those removes the file from our storage straight away (if storage is briefly unavailable, we retry until it is gone).
- Hours worked for an employer: these are the employer's pay records and are kept while their account exists, because employers often have to keep them by law. When the employer's account closes they are deleted within 90 days.
- Payment records: 6 years, as UK tax law requires.
- Our record of who did what: kept, but when you delete your account your name is removed from it.
- Analytics: Google Analytics keeps event data for up to 14 months.
Your rights and choices
You can:
- see and correct most of your data yourself in your profile and Account;
- add, replace or delete any qualification, its certificate file and your photo yourself, on Your profile;
- delete your account and its data yourself, at any time;
- turn off "let employers find me" and job alerts at any time;
- turn analytics off on the Cookie policy page;
- ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to send it to someone else, by emailing [email protected]. We reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK, or to the data protection authority where you live in the EU.
The site is not for anyone under 16.
Keeping it safe
Connections are encrypted, passwords are stored only as secure hashes, sign-in links expire and work once, signed-in pages are kept out of search engines, and access to data inside the company is limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so if you think your account has been misused, tell us straight away.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we tell you by email or on the site first. Questions or requests: [email protected].
